On 24th and 26th of August 2019, Led by Assoc.Prof.Dr.Somsak Srisontisuk, the class of Masters of Rural Development Managements 2019/2020 of Khon Kaen University visited Sisa Asoke community. Where is a Buddhist Village located in the North-eastern province of Sisaket. This is the third times of many other field trips this class will take part in the course of MDRM program. The main objectives of this field trip is to study and observer about Asoke community’s development and management which is closely related to their program as well as to experience Thai traditional culture and practice the Buddhist way of life.
Sisa Asoke community so far has been established almost 30 years, it has became very successful and famous community around Thailand and southeast Asia. Their goal is to live a simple and sustainable life that treads lightly on the planet while furthering their steps along the path to enlightenment. They accomplish this, not as much through traditional Buddhist practices and meditation but through community, cooperation, hard work, and compassionate service.
During Asoke community days, The MDRM student has involved many actives. The first day these students took an university van from khon kaen university to Asoke community spent almost 6hrs for this journey. These students got a short class from a respectable monk about knowing history and background of this community after reached this place in that afternoon, later on they had an wonderful organic vegetarian dinner. The day2 morning, these students had participated a yoga class with the community members, and after then visited Thai herbal industry observed the processing of produce production. Then students went the community store where has a lots different productions serve local residents demands. During afternoon, MDRM students represents their own country shared different cultures with community students. After dinner, these were an excellent international performances by MDRM students, Korean visitor and locals as well. The last day, students visited health care center, then back to Khon Kaen.
